Healthcare
At the end of 2024, there were 725 medical and health institutions in actual operation in Huadu District, including: 19 hospital institutions, 698 primary-level medical and health care institutions (including 18 community health centers and rural hospitals, 198 village health clinics and community health stations, 138 outpatient departments and nurse stations, 344 clinics and infirmaries), 4 public health institutions, and 4 other institutions.
Healthcare work force and hospital beds: In 2024, the District reported 11116 healthcare technicians, 4265 practicing (assistant) physicians, 782 general practitioners, 5120 nurses, 5813 permitted beds and 4971 available beds. (See the table below for details)
Based on the 1.7506 million permanent residents of the District in 2024 as released by the Statistics Bureau, there were 6.35 health technicians, 2.44 doctors, 0.48 TCM doctors 2.92 nurses and 0.447 general practitioners for every 1,000 permanent residents; and every 10,00 permanent residents had 2.84 hospital beds, with a doctor to nurse ratio of 1:1.20. 85.52% of permitted beds of the District were actually utilized.
Of the healthcare technicians of the District, practicing (assistant) physicians accounted for 38.37%, and nurses for 46.06%; and 46.92% of the practicing (assistant) physicians worked in hospitals, and 50.86% in primary-level medical and health care institutions.
